Animal Welfare
The members of the Texas
Senior Pro Rodeo Association value
the animals that are an integral part of rodeo. All
TSPRA members
believe animals should be provided proper care and
treatment,
and the organization has rules in place to assure that this
is done.
An animal can perform well
only if it is healthy. Stock contractors
who provide livestock to rodeos also have an obvious
financial
interest in keeping animals healthy.
TSPRA members are bound by
the corporation by-laws and rules,
which specifically deal with the care and treatment of
animals
in and out of the arena. Anyone violating these rules
is subject
to fine or suspension. The rodeo judges are given the
authority
to enforce all violations.
Animal welfare is a major
initiative of the TSPRA, and all event
directors are diligent in making certain that all rodeo
animals
are treated humanely.
